How is my blood sample collected?

You can collect the blood sample we need yourself using a finger-prick sample kit. We will send you the kit as soon as you place your order.

Are finger prick tests easy to do?

Essentially yes, anyone can collect the sample required easily and quickly providing they follow the instructions given. Finger-prick kits contain a small lancet which pierces the skin. The finger is then massaged and the resulting droplets of blood are used to fill the little sponge on top of the stick.

What information do I need to fill in the questionnaire?

To get the most out of Well B tests, we need you to fill in some data:

  • General data, your regular diet and physical activity data
  • anthropometric data (weight and height, waist, hip and wrist circumference). You will need a measuring tape.

You will that there are some fields marked as optional data. Our Well B metabolomic tests allow you to provide parameters of a recent blood test data and blood pressure data (optional data) to complement the metabolomic analysis performed at our laboratories.

The optional data is as follows:

  • Allowed parameters of a recent blood test data to integrate in our analysis: total cholesterol, HDL cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, triglycerides, glucose, Glycosylated haemoglobin*, Haematocrit, ferritin and bilirubin.
  • your diastolic and systolic blood pressure.

You will spend about 30 minutes to complete the questionnaire.

* Only for people with Diabetes Mellitus type 1 or type 2.

How soon do I need to post the sample to the lab?

It is essential that you register your kit before returning your sample to the lab. After registering your kit, simply place the micro sampler cartridge containing your sample into the sealed bag and place the bag into the original kit package. Then place the kit package intro the Laboratory Pack and schedule the pickup service.

It is necessary that you request the pickup of your blood sample on the day the sample is taken or on the next day. Any delays in the sample reaching the laboratory may lead to analysis failure or inaccurate results.

How do I know when my results are ready?

We will send you an email as soon as your results are ready to view. After that, simply log onto your account to view them. Your metabolomic report results is presented in English. We are working to add additional languages for you to choose.

How is my privacy protected?

We have stringent standards around safety and privacy. Your information is available to you—only. Your sample is attached to a barcode in your Metabolomic kit so that we know whom the results belong to. You can learn more about in our Privacy policy.

How were metabolites selected?

The metabolites in our products were selected from peer-reviewed scientific publications and leading research.

How are Well B tests different from genetic testing?

In contrast with your genes, which in many cases offer predisposition, metabolome offers what is going on at this moment. Your metabolites could inform you, in advance, of given risks, so you could act. For example, if you have metabolites pointing for increased risk of high glucose problems, you can take extra good care of it now to help offset it, by maintaining a healthier lifestyle, avoiding situations with known consequences over your metabolism. Plus…you could always check whether those changes are going on, and track them in novel analyses!

How often should I repeat my test?

You can repeat your test periodically in order to follow up your progression and monitor your health. We recommend doing an update test every six months. In the next months, we’ll publish special update test offers in our web page.

Are there any age restrictions?

You must be at least eighteen (18) years old to send in a sample. If you’re younger, you may still participate with consent from a parent or guardian.
